Landscaping materials

Hard landscaping becomes easier to check when each layer and boundary has its own quantity.

Before you order

Keep the project decisions separate from the arithmetic

Start with the surface

Measure the footprint first. Gravel and sub-base use area × depth; paving slabs use slab coverage; membrane uses roll layout; edging uses a linear run. Do not force every material through the same formula.

Then plan the boundaries and layers

A patio can need slabs, bedding and compacted sub-base. A gravel area can need membrane and edging. The parent hub keeps those parts together while the Gravel and Paving hubs go deeper into their own workflows.

Whole products change the order

The mathematical quantity can be fractional; bags, slabs, rolls and sleepers cannot. Keep the base requirement visible, then round the purchase unit appropriately and apply any separate allowance explicitly.
